The Role:
The role involves you supporting Partners and Directors on M&A and project finance mandates including sell-side, buy-side , as well as private equity fundraising by providing a high degree of specialised analytical services including, but not limited to, financial modelling, sector and company research, and preparing and creating investor and lender pitch decks.
Deal teams typically consist of two – four dedicated individuals, with mandates lasting up to a year. As part of the role you would work closely with in-country teams across the African continent, broadening your profile and gaining exposure to a variety of people and sectors.
Key Responsibilities:
The full range of responsibilities to Corporate Finance at Analyst level:
- Assisting in execution of deals
- Assisting in the preparation of marketing pitchbooks and related materials
- Gathering public information through numerous sources
- Creating financial model analyses
- Generating models for valuation metrics
- Drafting marketing documents such as Confidential Information Memorandums for financing and/or sell-side assignments
- Building company forecast models
- Analysing company performance on an absolute and relative basis
- Producing and maintaining various databases
Skills & Experience:
Africa Merchant Capital Advisory is looking for an Analyst/Junior Associate based out of either our London or Stellenbosch offices, who ideally will have:
- 1-3 years experience with a M&A background from an Investment Banking institution – ideally sector generalist with buy & sell side lead advisory work for small & medium sized enterprises
- Dealing with transactions in the $5m-$50m deal space
- Strong execution skills with a high proficiency in financial modelling
- Excellent writing skills and experience creating investment decks
- The ability to interact confidently with others, both externally with clients and in a collaborative team setting will be key
- Desire to be part of a small team with a willingness to take ownership and show initiative
- Ambitious, hard-working and a positive attitude
- Thinks intuitively about companies and possesses an Investor mindset
- Right to work in the United Kingdom or South Africa – No sponsorship requirements in either location
- An entrepreneurial can-do attitude
